Counter Staff

Our small office is at 2/60 Subhash Nagar in New Delhi. If you know the area, you know it’s packed with shops and houses all on top of each other. We are right in the thick of it. The space we have is just a ground floor room, really. It’s got a counter at the front, which I guess is why we are called what we are. People stop by to ask questions or drop off papers throughout the day. It isn't a big operation with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us sitting behind the counter or at the back desk. We have a small fridge for water and a kettle that we use way too much. The walls have some old calendars hanging on them. Subhash Nagar is always loud, so there’s a constant background noise of horns and people talking. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy website. We just rely on being here every morning when the shutters go up. Sometimes we run out of pens or the printer jams, and we just have to figure it out. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know the neighbors and the guy who sells tea at the corner. We’ve been here for a bit and we just keep things moving as best as we can. It’s just a regular shop-style office.
