China Garden

You can find us over at T 988 in Chirag Delhi. It is a busy little area and we have been here for quite some time now. China Garden isn't one of those massive, brightly lit places you see in the malls. We are more of a local spot where people from the neighborhood come when they want something different to eat. The kitchen is always going, and you can smell the garlic and ginger from the street if the wind is blowing the right way. We have a few tables, but a lot of our work is just packing up boxes for people to take home. It gets really crowded in the evenings, especially on the weekends when families are out. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the pans to worry about that right now. We have a couple of guys who have been cooking here since we first opened our doors. They know exactly how much salt or spice to put in without even thinking about it. Sometimes the delivery bikes out front make it hard to walk on the sidewalk, but that’s just how things are in this part of Delhi. It’s loud, it’s hot in the kitchen, and there is always something needing to be cleaned or chopped. We just keep at it every day and try to make sure nobody leaves hungry.
