Central Road Research Institute.New Delhi actually has a spot we use over in Moradabad. It’s C/O Matloob Ahmad Lamp Wale, near Masjid Khowaja Mustufa in Moughalpura Saqqa 1st. It’s a very traditional neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else. The area is famous for metal work and lamps, so you hear the sound of hammers hitting brass all day long. This isn't a big laboratory with white coats. It’s a small setup in an old part of town. The lanes are so narrow that you can barely fit a car through them, so most of us just walk or take a cycle. We are located right near the masjid, so the calls to prayer mark our day. Inside, we have some basic equipment and a lot of files. It’s a bit of a different environment than the main office in Delhi, but we make it work. The building is old and has that specific smell of dust and history. We interact with the locals a lot, especially the craftsmen nearby. It’s a humble place to do research work. We don't have any fancy cafeteria, so we usually just get something from the small shops in the market. It’s a practical, no-frills location where we focus on our specific tasks without much distraction from the outside world.
