Working out of door number 146 has been our routine for quite a while now. It is a simple space, mostly filled with the sound of keyboards clicking and different people talking on their headsets all day. When you do travel work like we do, the day is just a long string of looking at computer screens and trying to find the right routes for people to take. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy outside on the street. Most people who come in to see us have been coming here for years, or they just heard about the place from a friend. The desks are always a bit cluttered with notebooks, pens, and some old calendars. We drink a lot of tea and coffee to stay sharp, especially when that afternoon slump hits around three o'clock. It is not a big corporate floor with fancy carpets or anything like that. The floor is just plain tile, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint if we ever found the time to do it. We spend most of the day dealing with changes in travel schedules and helping folks figure out where they need to go next. It gets a bit hectic during the holiday seasons, and the phones don’t seem to stop ringing then. On the quieter days, we just catch up on the filing and chat about our own plans. It is a small team here, so we all know each other well. We just show up, do the work, and make sure everything is in order before we lock the door at night.
