We are tucked away at 373 Shahpur Jat, inside the Asian Games Village area. It’s a bit of a maze back here with all the narrow lanes and small boutiques nearby. This is where we handle a lot of the news work for the city and beyond. The office isn’t huge, but it gets the job done. We have reporters coming in with muddy shoes after being out in the field and editors trying to make sense of recordings. It’s a lot of sitting around computers and drinking coffee while waiting for things to happen. Sometimes the street outside is blocked by a delivery truck, which makes getting equipment out quite a challenge. We don’t have those flashy news desks you see on TV here. It is more about desks piled with notebooks and old newspapers. People are usually talking fast or arguing about a story that needs to go out. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a bit now and the locals are used to seeing us around with our gear. It’s a practical setup for people who are just trying to tell stories about what’s going on in the world. No one wears suits much unless they really have to. We just focus on getting the facts down and sending them off to where they need to go. It is a noisy, cluttered space, but that is just how the news business feels on the inside.
