I work in the F&B service department over at the Bristol Hotel. Specifically, we are part of the team linked with the Radisson Hotel in Delhi. My name is Deepak Kumar and I spend most of my shifts as a steward. Our daily routine is pretty straightforward but keeps us on our toes. We are usually in the dining areas or the back service halls making sure everything is ready for the guests. The kitchen is always a bit chaotic with the smell of spices and the sound of clinking plates. We don't have much of a formal 'About Us' because we are just the people working on the floor. Our uniforms have to be pressed every day, though they get wrinkled pretty quickly when we are running around. The service area has those long corridors that seem to go on forever. We spend a lot of time checking if the salt and pepper shakers are full or if the linens are straight. It's a lot of physical work and my shoes definitely feel it by the end of the night. We have a small break room where we sit for ten minutes when the lunch rush finally dies down. It’s not glamorous, but it’s how the hotel stays running. We just focus on the tables in front of us and making sure the food gets out while it's still hot. That’s what our day looks like here.
