At D-78 Dda Flat in Jasola Vihar, things feel a lot more like a neighborhood office than a big institution. This part of Okhla is always moving, but inside our flat, it’s mostly just the sound of keyboards and the occasional phone ringing. Barclays Bank has this spot here where we handle the day-to-day stuff that comes across the desk. It’s not a glass tower. It’s a DDA flat, so it has that specific layout that anyone from Delhi would recognize right away. The rooms are a bit small, and we’ve had to fit a lot of equipment into spaces that weren't really meant for them. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and making sure the numbers match up. There is a small balcony where we go to get a bit of air, though the view is just other flats and some trees. Sometimes the neighbors are moving furniture or kids are playing outside, and you can hear it all through the walls. It makes the workday feel a little more human, I guess. We don't have a cafeteria, so everyone just brings their own lunch or orders something from the local shops around Jasola. It’s a very routine kind of life here. We come in, do the work that needs doing, and try to keep everything organized despite the limited space we have. Most days are quiet and we prefer it that way so we can focus.
