We have been running Bansal Telecom on Telephone Road in Budh Vihar for quite some time now. Our shop is located at U/1/14, and it is a pretty small space, but we make it work. Most of the day is spent fixing mobile phones that people drop off. We see a lot of cracked screens and batteries that just won’t hold a charge anymore. It’s a busy street, and there is always noise from the traffic outside. We also sell things like SIM cards and those little recharge coupons that some people still use. My cousin helps me out during the evenings when the crowd from the offices starts coming back. We have a few stools for people to sit on while they wait, but it gets a bit cramped if more than three people are inside. The walls are covered with different phone cases and charging cables. We don't have a computer to keep track of everything, just a simple notebook where we write down the repairs. Sometimes the internet connection in the area acts up, which makes it hard to test the phones, but we manage somehow. It’s a simple business, and we know most of the people who live in this part of Budh Vihar. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just making sure folks can use their phones again. The shop gets quite warm in the summer months, but we have a small fan that keeps us going through the long afternoons.
