B P Mechanical Works is down in Nimri, Gali No 13, off the New Rohtak Road. The address is S-23 if you are looking for it. This is a place where things get fixed and grease is everywhere. I spend my days working with machines and metal parts. It’s not a clean job, but it’s what I’ve been doing for a long time. The workshop is full of tools that I’ve collected over the years. Some are old and heavy, and some are a bit more modern. The sound of hammering and grinding is pretty much the soundtrack to my day. New Rohtak Road is always busy with trucks and commercial vehicles, so there’s a lot of that kind of work. I have a small area for files and paperwork, but mostly I’m on my feet on the concrete floor. It gets quite hot in the summer with all the machinery running. I usually have a radio playing in the background, though you can’t always hear it over the noise. People bring in parts that need repair, and I take my time to see what can be done. It’s a practical business. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or air conditioning. You come here to get a mechanical job done, and that’s about it. My hands are usually stained with oil by noon. It’s honest work and I know most of the other workshop owners in the lane.
