You can find Avtar Mechanical Works over in Hari Nagar, specifically at Building No. Be-65, near Sardar Man on Ss Mota Singh Marg. New Delhi is always crowded, and our little corner is no different. It’s a busy street with people coming and going all day. Inside our shop, it’s mostly the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of cutting oil. We’ve been in this building for years, and it’s seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood. We focus on mechanical repairs and making small parts that people can't find elsewhere. It’s a small operation, just a few of us who have been doing this for a long time. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll likely see one of us leaning over a lathe or clearing off a workbench. The walls are lined with old tools and bins full of bolts and washers. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s where the work happens. Sometimes the power goes out or the street gets blocked by a delivery van, but we just work around it. We take pride in knowing how things work. When a customer brings in a broken piece of machinery, we take it apart and figure it out. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning until evening here in Delhi. There is always something new to fix, which keeps the days from getting too boring.
