Associated Traders

Our shop is on the first floor at 22/34 B in Tilak Nagar. If you’ve ever been to Tilak Nagar, you know how packed the streets are with people and shops. We’re right in the thick of it. Since we are on the first floor, we get a little bit of a break from the noise of the street, but not much. We mostly deal with trading different goods and talking to suppliers all day. The office is basically just one big room with some shelves for samples and a few desks for the paperwork. It’s usually a bit of a mess with boxes arriving or being sent out. We don’t have any fancy decorations; the walls are mostly covered in notes and old calendars. It’s a very hands-on job where we are always checking stock or arguing about prices on the phone. We’ve been in this building for years and know all the other traders on our floor. It feels more like a community than a business park. We usually have tea brought up from the stall downstairs a few times a day. There’s no real dress code here; we just wear whatever is practical for moving boxes around. It’s a hard-working place where we just try to keep the business moving and the customers satisfied. It’s not always pretty, but it’s how we make our living here in New Delhi. We just get on with it every day.
