Ashok Hotel

Our hotel is over at B-1/1529 in Vasant Kunj. It’s a residential sort of area in New Delhi, so it stays a bit calmer than the main city center which is a relief. Ashok Hotel isn't a giant skyscraper or anything, just a building where we have rooms for guests to stay. We spend a lot of time making sure the beds are made and the bathrooms are clean. That's really the main part of the job here. People come here when they need a place to sleep for a night or two. Sometimes they are here for work and sometimes they are just visiting family nearby. We don't have a big fancy restaurant, but there are plenty of places to eat around Vasant Kunj if you walk a bit. The staff here is small and we all know each other well. We take turns at the front desk waiting for people to arrive. Sometimes guests show up very late at night and we have to be ready for them with the register. It’s a lot of routine work like checking IDs and handing out keys. We don't put on any airs about being a luxury place. It’s just a decent spot to sleep. We've seen a lot of different people come through these doors over the years. We just keep things running as smoothly as we can and hope the traffic in Delhi isn't too bad for our guests when they leave for the airport or the station.
