I run Ashish Telecom over at B -23 in Nangloi. It’s a small shop, mainly focused on mobile phones and all the little things that go with them. I started this place because I wanted to work for myself and I knew a bit about electronics. Nangloi is a crowded area, and there’s always something happening on the street outside. My shop is filled with phone cases, chargers, and boxes of screen protectors. I spend most of my time either fixing a cracked screen or helping someone figure out why their battery isn't charging. It’s not glamorous work, and my hands are often covered in tape or glue. I don't have a big staff, so I do most of the work myself. Sometimes it gets overwhelming when five people walk in at once, but you just take them one by one. I try to be fair with my prices because everyone around here is working hard for their money. The shop gets a bit dusty because of the road nearby, so I spend a lot of time wiping down the glass counters. It’s a basic life, but it keeps me busy. I’ve known many of my customers for years; they’re more like neighbors than just people buying things. We talk about the weather or the local news while I work on their devices. It’s a nice way to stay connected to the community here.
