Our base is at A-3/322 in East Gokulpur, Shadhra. It’s right in the thick of things in Delhi-94. Anand Roadlines deals with a lot of movement, mostly trucks and transport schedules, so there is always a bit of grime and dust around the place. The office is really just a spot for us to manage the drivers and keep the logs in order. It’s not a place you’d go to for a fancy meeting. We have a few wooden desks and some old metal filing cabinets that have been here as long as I can remember. Outside, the road is usually full of vehicles and there’s a lot of noise from the traffic, but we’ve grown used to it. Shadhra is a tough area for driving, but we know the shortcuts and the timing well enough by now. We start the day quite early to coordinate with the morning shifts. Most of us have worked in the transport line for years, so we don't need much instruction on what to do. We just check the manifests and make sure the cargo is where it needs to be. There’s a small dhaba nearby where we usually get our tea and talk about the road conditions or the weather. We don’t use any big fancy software; a lot of it is still done with notebooks and calculators. It’s honest work and we stay busy from morning until late evening most days to keep the trucks moving.
