American Institute Of English Language

You can find us way up on the 11th floor of the building at S-529 in Laxmi Nagar. The space is listed under Anjali Jindal, but it's where the American Institute of English Language is set up. Being that high up gives us a pretty good view of the New Delhi skyline, even if it’s usually a bit hazy. The office is right near the Tata Indicom showroom, which is what most people use as a landmark to find us. We teach English here to anyone who wants to learn, from students to working adults. The elevator in this building is a bit slow and sometimes makes a weird groaning noise, so we tell everyone to leave a few minutes early. We have a small staff room where we keep a kettle and some biscuits for the teachers. The rooms are basic, just some chairs and a board, but they get the job done. We have classes running throughout the day, so there’s a constant stream of people coming in and out. The hallways can get a bit cramped during the break times. We don't make any big promises about becoming fluent in a week. We just tell people that if they show up and try, they'll get better. It's a simple, honest approach to teaching that seems to work for the folks in Laxmi Nagar. Sometimes the air conditioner struggles with the Delhi heat, but we keep the lessons going anyway. It’s a lively place.
