Our office is on the first floor of building B-163 in Amar Colony, which is part of Lajpat Nagar-4. If you have ever been to Amar Colony, you know it is famous for the food and the busy narrow streets. We are right in the middle of all that. Being on the first floor means we can see a bit of the street action from the windows. It is an American Express office, but it feels more like a local workplace when you are actually inside. We have rows of desks with computers and phones that never seem to stop ringing. The carpet is a bit worn out in the spots where people walk the most. We mostly spend our time dealing with accounts and talking to customers about their cards or payments. It is a lot of sitting and typing, so we take our breaks seriously, usually heading out to get some tea from the stall downstairs. The atmosphere is professional but not stiff; we all know each other well and there is a lot of casual chatter between calls. We have to keep things organized because there is so much data to handle, but our desks are usually covered in post-it notes and half-empty water bottles. It is a high-energy place because of where we are located in the market. We just keep our heads down and get through the work day until it is time to go.
