About Al Iqura Restaurant Area Manager – Tourism in Delhi
Our little office is where we manage things for Al Iqura Restaurant here in New Delhi. It’s not a huge place, just a room where we can sit down and look at the numbers and the menus. Managing a restaurant area is mostly about making sure the kitchens have what they need and the staff are doing okay. We spend a lot of time traveling between different spots, so the office isn't always full, but it’s our main hub. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do. It’s just about good food and making sure people have a decent place to eat. We deal with suppliers, handle the occasional complaint, and try to keep the chefs happy, which isn't always easy. New Delhi is a tough place for the food business because there’s so much competition, but we just keep doing our thing. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just a few of us who know the industry well. Some days we're worried about the price of onions, and other days we're looking at new recipes to try out. It’s a bit of everything. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want the plates to go out hot and the customers to leave with a full stomach. It’s honest, hard work, and we’re glad to be doing it in this city. Every day is a new challenge with a different ingredient or a staff shift that needs filling.
