Air India

This particular spot is at C 4/79 in the Indian Airlines Colony. It’s right in the Vasant Vihar area of New Delhi, pin code 57. Being in a colony meant for staff, it has a very specific feel to it. There are lots of trees around and the buildings all look similar. We are part of the Air India network, but this location is more of a quiet administrative or residential hub than a busy airport office. The rooms are old-style with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors. Sometimes the monkeys come around the balconies, so we have to keep the windows shut. It is a bit of a walk from the main gate to our block, but it’s a nice enough walk when it’s not raining. We spend our days handling the logs and the internal communications that keep the airline side of things moving. There is a small canteen nearby where everyone grabs lunch. The furniture is a bit dated, mostly old metal desks and chairs that have been here for decades. You can hear the sounds of families living nearby, which makes it feel less like a workplace and more like a neighborhood. We have a lot of old files stacked up because things move slowly sometimes. It’s a steady environment. We’ve been here a long time and the routine doesn't change much. It’s just how things are in Vasant Vihar and we just keep at it.
