Working out of Gurgaon for Air France is pretty much what you’d expect from an office job in this city. Gurgaon is always changing, with new buildings going up and the traffic getting a bit worse every year. Our office here is where we spend the bulk of our week. It’s not like being at the airport with planes taking off, though we do deal with all that stuff from behind a desk. Most of us commute from different parts of the city or even from Delhi, so the mornings are usually about coffee and catching our breath before the emails start piling up. It’s a standard workspace with desks, chairs, and some posters on the walls. We don't really go in for those polished corporate speeches you see online. We’re just a bunch of people trying to keep things organized. The air conditioning is usually running too cold, and there’s always someone complaining about it. We have our routines, like where we go for a quick walk or who makes the best tea nearby. It’s a practical environment. We don't talk about missions or visions much; we just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay on top of the schedule. Gurgaon has its own energy, and we’re right in the middle of it. It’s just how it is working here. We get the job done and head home to do it all again tomorrow.
