Abacus

We’ve been tucked away here at 109/1C in West Azad Nagar for quite some time now. You can probably see our sign if you're walking to the market in New Delhi-51. It’s not a huge place, just a regular office where we keep the books and get daily tasks done. Most days find us sitting at our desks and handling whatever comes through the door. Because the main road is close, the traffic gets pretty loud during the afternoons. We’re used to it by now, though. Fancy stuff doesn't happen here much. Our work is mostly about keeping things organized and making sure the numbers add up before we leave. When the tea guy comes by, we take a quick break, then it’s straight back to the paperwork. Even though Abacus is the name on the door, for us, it’s just where we spend our waking hours. Paint on the walls could be fresher, and the computer sometimes acts up in the summer heat, but we manage. Sometimes neighbors stop by just to ask directions or say hello. Being part of the local neighborhood here in West Azad Nagar feels right. There are no big corporate speeches to give here. We show up, do what needs doing, and then head home like everyone else on this street who is just trying to make a living.
