Nayi Umang Farmer Seedcrop & Livestock Producer Company Limited

We are located right near the Mandi Gate in Vikasnagar, and that means there is almost always a lot of shouting and truck noise right outside our door. Nayi Umang is a long name for a company, so most of the locals just call us the seed and livestock people by the gate. Our office is set up over at Prakash Chand’s place, and it is a pretty active spot throughout the week. We spend most of our mornings talking with farmers who have traveled in from the areas around Dehradun. Sometimes we are talking about the quality of the seed crops and other times the conversation is all about how the livestock are doing. There is not much for decoration in our office, just some plain chairs, a couple of big wooden tables, and stacks of papers that never seem to get smaller. Since the main market is right there, we are always in the middle of whatever is being bought or sold. It gets incredibly hot during the summer, and the old ceiling fans we have don't do much to cool us down, but we just keep working. We are not doing anything particularly fancy here; we are just helping the local farmers organize themselves so they can get better results for their hard work. It takes a lot of coordination to get everything right, but we enjoy being part of the Vikasnagar community. We are just regular people.
