Alankar Hair Saloon

Alankar Hair Saloon is located right on the Main Road in Dehradun City, specifically in the Dhamawala area of Sarafa Bazar. Being in the bazaar means it is always noisy and crowded outside with shoppers and sellers. Our shop is in one of the older buildings, so the ceilings are high but the walls are a bit uneven. We have a heavy glass door that keeps most of the dust from the street out. Inside, the air smells like shaving cream and talcum powder. We’ve got several chairs lined up and they’ve been there since we opened. The upholstery on one of them is starting to crack a bit, but it’s still comfortable enough. Most people who come here are regulars from the Sarafa Bazar who have been coming to us for years. We don’t have any fancy signs or neon lights, just a simple board outside with our name on it. During the winter months, it gets quite cold inside since the door opens so often, so we all wear thick sweaters while we work. In the evenings, the street lights come on and the bazaar gets even busier, but inside we just keep going through the list of people waiting. It is a busy life here in Dehradun, and we are just a small part of it. There is always someone looking for a quick trim or a clean shave before heading home.
