Amjuli Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based right here in Village No 4 in the Amjuli area. If you come looking for us, we are mostly around Siddha Bahadur Tiwari’s place near the Bor post office in Harisinga. It is a quiet part of Darrang but things stay busy during the planting months. Most of us here have been working the soil for a long time. This company started because a few of us figured it was better to handle the business side of farming together instead of doing it all alone. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather and the prices in the market. Sometimes the rain helps us out and sometimes it makes the roads a mess. It is not an easy life being out in the fields all day, but it is what we know. We have our little office set up where we keep our papers and meet up after the sun goes down. Most days involve a lot of walking around and checking on what the others are doing. We don’t have fancy equipment or anything, just the usual stuff you find on an Assam farm. People around here know each other well so it feels more like a big family than a real office. We just want to make sure the crops get sold and everyone gets a fair bit for their hard work. It takes a lot of patience to deal with the land and the local market cycles.
