Darrang Farmers Producer Company Limited

Down here in Jangalpara, we’ve been working the dirt for as long as anyone can remember. Darrang Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us from around the Kharupetia area who wanted to organize things a bit better. Our main spot is at House Number 50 in the village. It’s not a big office building or anything, just a house where we meet up to talk about the vegetables and the markets. Kharupetia is a busy place for farming, but as individual growers, we were always getting the short end of the stick. So, we put this company together. It’s a lot of work, and honestly, we’re still learning how to manage the business side of things. Some days are just spent arguing about transport costs or why the rainy season started too early. We don’t have a big staff, just a few people helping out with the records and the collections. It’s about getting the produce out of the fields and into the hands of people who need it without getting squeezed by every middleman on the road. We stay busy year-round because something is always growing in this soil. It’s a hard life, but being part of the company helps us feel a bit less isolated. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day. If someone needs help with their cabbage or tomatoes, they usually know where to find us in the village.
