Singlo Jaboka Tea Estate Llp has its main office at the Amba Complex on H S Road. It’s a busy spot and there is always noise from the traffic outside. We spend most of our time dealing with the tea that comes from our estate. Tea is a tricky business because the weather has to be just right for the leaves to grow well. We have a lot of people working out in the fields picking the tea. It’s a hard job and they are out there in the heat and the rain. Inside the office, we try to keep things organized but it often gets messy with logs and shipment papers everywhere. We’ve been at this for a while now. The routine is the same every year. You watch the bushes, you wait for the flush, and then everyone is working double time to get it processed. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. It’s just tea. Some people think it’s a glamorous business, but mostly it is just checking the machinery and making sure the bags are packed right. We have some old computers that take forever to start up, but they get the job done eventually. It’s a local operation and most of the staff have been with us for years. We know each other well and that makes the long days a bit easier. It's a lot of tea and even more paperwork.
