You can find us over in Haluvalli village, at Vrindavana. The address is Dn 2-25/1, which is where Krishnayya Shetty’s family has been for a long time. We are a group of farmers from around Kokkarne who decided it was better to work as one unit instead of all of us struggling on our own. It’s a lot of work, keeping track of everything, but it feels right for the community here. Most of us grow the usual crops you see in this part of the region, and we’ve been doing it for years. We meet up to discuss things like seeds and how the soil is doing after the monsoon passes. There’s no big fancy building with air conditioning, just a local spot where we can get organized and talk. Sometimes the meetings go long because everyone has a different opinion on how to handle the next planting season. That’s just how it goes when you have a lot of independent people trying to cooperate for once. We're proud of being from Haluvalli and we try to look out for each other when things get tough. It isn't always smooth sailing, and there’s plenty of sweat and long hours involved, but we keep at it. If you’re passing through the village, you might see us working the land or just taking a short break in the shade. It’s just us, doing what we know how to do best.
