Jnanasudha Pre University College

Up here in Yerlapady, things are a bit quieter than in the middle of Udupi town. Jnanasudha Pre University College is where the older students come after they finish high school. It’s a big transition for them, moving into those two years of pre-university. The atmosphere at our place is mostly about getting the work done. We have classrooms that get plenty of breeze, which is good because it gets quite warm here. The staff doesn't wear suits or anything; we’re just local people who know the subjects well enough to explain them. We see students coming in from all the surrounding villages, sometimes taking long bus rides to get here. It’s a serious time for them because of the exams, but you still see them laughing in the corridors during the breaks. We don’t have a massive marketing team writing about our vision. We just make sure the lab equipment works and the library has the books the students keep asking for. If a student is falling behind, the lecturers usually notice pretty quickly because we aren't that huge. It’s a practical place for practical learning. We handle the admissions, the mid-terms, and the annual day just like any other college in this part of the state. It’s honest work, and we’ve been doing it this way for a while now.
