Venkateswara Grocery Store

I have been running this grocery store at 112 Sathy Road in Ganapathy for a long time now. It is a small place but we pack a lot of items into the shelves. We have big bags of rice, different kinds of lentils, and all the usual spices for cooking. People from the neighborhood stop in every morning to get their milk and fresh bread. I know almost all the faces that walk through the door. We try to keep the shelves as full as we can manage. It is a lot of work carrying the crates and stocking everything. My family helps out when it gets really busy in the evenings. Sathy Road is always very loud with the buses and the bikes going by. Sometimes I stand out front for a minute just to watch the traffic move. We do not use a computer system here. I just write everything down in my ledger book. It has been that way since the first day we opened. We carry the brands that the people around here like to use. If someone needs something special I try to get it for them when the supplier comes next week. The shop always smells like coriander and sandalwood soap. It is a nice smell to work in. We don't do any home delivery so people just come and carry their own bags home. It is a simple shop. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket, just a place for the locals.
