Gramathu Kadai

You can find Gramathu Kadai over at 207, NVN Layout in New Sidhapudur. We are right in the Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore. We try to keep things feeling like a village shop, hence the name. It’s not a polished city restaurant with glass doors and fancy lights. We have wooden benches and the kind of atmosphere you’d find in a smaller town. People come here when they want a break from all the fast food and corporate places in 641012. We serve things that remind people of home cooking. It’s a bit loud sometimes because we are near the heart of the city, but inside we just focus on the food. The kitchen is visible, so you can see the steam rising from the pots. We don’t use a lot of fancy machines, mostly just traditional ways of prepping the meals. The menu changes based on what we can get our hands on. Sometimes we forget to update the board, so you just have to ask what’s cooking. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us doing everything from taking orders to mopping the floor at night. It’s hard work but it’s our own thing. We like being part of the New Sidhapudur community. If you want something that isn't processed and packaged, we usually have something simmering on the stove. We don't have any fancy signs out front, just the address and the name.
