Thulasi Furniture World

We’ve been here at 30/1 Alagesan Road for a good while now. Most people around Saibaba Colony know where we are. It’s just a regular furniture shop, nothing too fancy. We have chairs, tables, and some beds shoved in the back because space is a bit tight. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road for a minute, and we have to hurry up. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic on Alagesan Road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the wooden pieces. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just walk in when they need a new stool or maybe a cupboard for their kid's room. Sometimes they want to haggle, and we talk about it over some tea. It's a lot of work lifting heavy things all day. My back usually hurts by five o'clock. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the stock piles up. The fans stay on all day to keep the place cool for anyone browsing. It’s mostly just us locals working here. We know the neighbors and which families are moving in or out. It’s a quiet enough life running a shop like this. If someone needs a sofa, they know we’re right here next to the other stores. We just open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait to see who comes by today.
