The Chinmaya International Residential School

The Chinmaya International Residential School is located out on Siruvani Main Road, near Nallurvayal Post. It is quite a bit away from the main city noise, which is something you notice as soon as you arrive. Because it is a residential school, the kids live here full-time, so it’s more like a small village than just a building. We have the hills in the background, and the air feels a bit fresher than it does in the middle of town. The campus is spread out with different blocks for sleeping, eating, and classes. It’s a lot of walking from one place to another. We have gardens and some open spaces where the students can spend their time when they aren’t in lessons. It isn’t always quiet, though. With so many young people living together, there’s always something happening in the dorms or on the sports fields. The dining hall is a busy place three times a day. We try to keep things simple and focused on the day-to-day routine of studying and living together. The weather can get a bit rainy since we are closer to the hills, so the ground stays green most of the year. It’s a practical setup. We have the usual stuff like a library and places for the kids to do their laundry. It’s a long road to get out here, but it’s where we are and what we do every day.
