Sriram Departmental Store

If you walk down Bazar Street, you can’t really miss Sriram Departmental Store. We take up numbers 148, 149, and 150 because we needed the extra space for all the groceries and household supplies we stock. It started out much smaller but we kept knocking down walls to make room for more shelves. We’ve got everything from rice and lentils to soaps and cleaning supplies. It’s a busy shop, especially in the mornings when everyone is out doing their daily shopping. We try to keep things organized but with so many people coming through, the shelves often look a bit messy by the end of the day. Our staff is mostly local kids and some family members who help out with the heavy lifting and the register. We don't do any fancy promotions or loyalty cards. People come to us because they know we have what they need and we’ve been here for years. The floor is a bit uneven in places and the lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for a neighborhood store. We spend a lot of time checking expiration dates and making sure the fridge is cold. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s a steady one. We enjoy seeing the same faces every day and knowing what our regulars like to buy. It’s just a normal part of life on Bazar Street.
