Running a place like Sri Manikumar Heavy Driving School in Coimbatore keeps us busy from sunrise. We are situated on the first floor of building number 162 on Thadagam Road. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs, but you get a good view of the traffic from up here. Being in TVS Nagar, we see a lot of people looking to get into heavy vehicle driving. Dealing with trucks and big buses is a different world compared to small cars. You need a lot of patience and some strong arms for those steering wheels. Our spot is right opposite the Royal Touch building, so we are easy to find even when the road gets crowded. The office isn't anything fancy, just a couple of chairs and the ledger books where we keep track of everyone’s hours. We’ve been here for a long time and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re more worried about the engines and the tires. Teaching someone to reverse a heavy loader or a big transport truck takes time and a lot of shouting sometimes over the engine noise. Coimbatore has changed a lot since we started, but the need for good drivers stays the same. We don’t have a big marketing team, just our reputation among the local transport guys. If you walk past the Royal Touch area, you’ll probably see our sign hanging out front.
