Shree Corn Shop

I've been here at 16, Barathi Park Main Road for a while now. Saibaba Colony is always busy, especially in the evenings when everyone is out walking. Our little spot, Shree Corn Shop, is right in the middle of it. Mostly, it’s just me and a couple of others getting everything ready before the sun goes down. We spend a lot of time just shucking the ears and making sure the charcoal is going right. It gets pretty warm behind the counter, but you get used to it after a few hours. People from around the neighborhood stop by, some just to chat while they wait for their order. It’s not a big fancy place, just a simple counter and some stools. Sometimes the rain makes it tricky because the road gets a bit messy, but customers still show up under their umbrellas. We keep things pretty basic here. There’s no big sign or flashing lights, just the smell of the corn roasting that lets people know we’re open. We stay open until the bags are empty or it gets too late. It’s a steady kind of life, seeing the same faces every day and keeping the stove going. Saibaba Colony has changed a lot over the years, more cars and more noise, but our corner stays mostly the same. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out, without making much of a fuss about it. It’s just how we run things here.
