Saravanan Veg Soup & Juice

Our shop, Saravanan Veg Soup & Juice, is at 12, Thamarai Nagar in the Vadavalli area. We do things a bit differently because we have hot soup as well as cold juices. It’s a small place, mostly just a counter and a stove where the soup pots sit. In the evenings, when it gets a little cooler, more people come for the soup. During the day, it is mostly people looking for juice. We’ve been in Thamarai Nagar for several years now. Vadavalli is a nice place, though the traffic has picked up lately. We spend a lot of time chopping vegetables and getting the broth ready. My hands usually smell like ginger or onions by the end of the day. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls. It’s just a plain shop where we work. We don't have a big menu, just a few things that we know how to make well. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat for a bit while they wait. We aren't some big corporate business. It’s just us and a couple of helpers when it gets busy. We try to keep the place clean, but with all the cooking, it’s a constant job. We stay open until about nine at night. Then we scrub everything down and go home. It’s a simple routine that we’ve followed for a long time.
