Our shop is at D No. 21 on Anniappa Gounder Street, which is just off the Maniakarampalayam Road in Nallampalayam. It’s a fairly quiet neighborhood compared to the main roads, which we like. We deal with kitchen equipment, so our space is often filled with industrial stoves, chimneys, and large sinks. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes when we have a lot of items in for repair. We spend most of the day with screwdrivers and cleaning kits in hand. When a kitchen part breaks down, it’s a big deal for the person owning it, so we try to get things sorted out without too much fuss. We have a small workbench in the back where we take the smaller appliances apart to see what’s wrong. There is always a stack of service manuals on the table and a few mugs of half-drunk tea. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us who know our way around a kitchen setup. We talk to our customers like neighbors because that’s basically what they are. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just answer the phone and do the work that needs doing. It can be greasy and tiring, but seeing a machine start working again is a good feeling. We just keep plugging away at it day after day.
