We are located at No. 121 in the Hudco Colony area, right in Sivananda Colony in Coimbatore. Ananda Bakery is nearby, so that helps people find us. The shop is a typical local maligai store. We carry all the things you need for a kitchen. Coimbatore has nice weather, but the afternoons still get warm, so we keep the doors open for the breeze. There’s usually a stack of newspapers near the counter for when things are slow. We spend our mornings talking to the delivery guys and checking the weights of the pulses. The shelves are mostly wooden, and we’ve painted them a few times over the years. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than three people are inside. We know most of the families living in the colony. Children often come in with a few coins to buy small sweets. We don’t use any big marketing tricks. We just sit here and help whoever walks in. Sometimes the stray dogs sleep near the entrance because it’s shaded. We don’t mind. Life is pretty quiet here compared to the main city center. We just keep the inventory moving and make sure the place is swept twice a day. It’s honest work and we have been doing it for quite a while now. It feels like we are part of the daily routine for everyone living on this street.
