You can find us at number 6 on Oppanakara Street, right in the Town Hall area. If you’ve been there, you know how packed it is with shops and people. It is probably one of the busiest streets around. Our space is tucked away and it’s quite small for a food company. We handle a lot of different products, mostly dry goods that can stay on the shelf for a bit. The walls are lined with wooden racks that go all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a ladder to get the stuff from the top. It’s always noisy with the sounds of the market outside. We don't have air conditioning, so we just leave the doors open and use a couple of standing fans. The floor is always a bit sticky from something, no matter how much we sweep. We have been in this spot for a long time, and the building shows its age. We don't mind the chaos of Town Hall; it’s just part of the job. Most of our work involves weighing things out and putting them into smaller packets. We don't talk much while we work, we just listen to the radio and get through the pile of orders. It’s just a regular business trying to survive. Oppanakara Street never really sleeps, even late at night there is something going on. Being near the Town Hall means we are right in the middle of everything. It can be exhausting but it's where we've always been.
