Down in Vavipalayam, you’ll find our place at No 3/556 in New Guruvayurappan Nagar. We’re Pudhumai Constructions, and this is where we run things from. The area is still growing, so there’s a lot of construction noise around us even when we aren’t the ones making it. Our office is a straightforward setup. We don’t have a sign that lights up or anything, just the address on the wall. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, chairs, and a few cupboards where we keep the site boots and helmets. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but we like being close to where the new developments are happening. The staff here is mostly local, so we talk a lot about what’s changing in Vavipalayam while we drink our morning coffee. We spend the bulk of our time looking at site photos and trying to make sure the labor is showing up when they said they would. It’s a lot of manual tracking because we don’t like those complicated software systems that much. We prefer a notebook and a pen for the most part. The air gets a bit dusty in the afternoons when the wind picks up, but that’s just part of being in this line of work. We’ve been at this address for a while now, and everyone knows where to find us if they need something fixed or built.
