Pandiyan Stores

Our shop, Pandiyan Stores, is located on Kattabomman Street in Ganapathy, Coimbatore. We are very close to the Masoodhi, so it is easy for people to find us. We have been at number 17 for a long time now. It is a local place where people come to get their daily cooking needs. We have bags of rice, different kinds of lentils, and oils. The street is usually narrow and can get a bit cramped with two-wheelers. We start our work pretty early, opening up the shutters and dusting the counters. Coimbatore weather is usually okay, but it gets hot in the afternoons, so we just keep the fan running. We don’t do any big advertising or anything like that. People know us through word of mouth. We keep the accounts in a simple ledger book. It’s mostly just family helping out at the store. We make sure to check the expiry dates and keep the fresh stock in front. It is a lot of lifting heavy sacks and moving things around. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to talk for a few minutes while buying their sugar or tea dust. We don’t have any self-service here; we just give whatever the customer asks for over the counter. It’s a practical way of doing things that works for us. We are just a part of the Ganapathy neighborhood, serving the folks here.
