Palaniyappa Stroe

My family has been running Palaniyappa Stroe at 30, A K Theroterr for a while now. It is a small place but we have most of the things people ask for daily. You can find us right on the corner there. Most days I am just sitting here waiting for the next customer or checking if we need to order more flour. The shop is not very big, so things are stacked up high sometimes. We have everything from spices to cleaning powders. It stays fairly quiet in the afternoons when the sun is hot, so that is when I usually try to organize the back area. Sometimes the spelling on our old sign looks a bit funny but everyone knows it is us. People around A K Theroterr stop in to chat for a minute while they pick up their tea or sugar. It feels good to see the same faces every day. We do not have any big machines or fancy displays. It is just wooden shelves and a stone floor. I spend a lot of time cleaning the dust off the jars. Life at the store moves at its own pace. We stay open late enough for the workers to get their supplies before they head home. It is just a local business trying to stay helpful to the people living nearby. Nothing more to it than that really.
