Omsakthi Marakadai

Omsakthi Marakadai is located at No-887 on the Bangalore Main Road, right across from the Bdo office in Tukapet. If you ever drive past, you will see the piles of wood stacked up. We deal with timber and wood products every single day. The sound of saws is something you just get used to after a while. It’s a very dusty environment, and we all wear old clothes because everything gets covered in sawdust within minutes. We spend a lot of time measuring lengths and moving heavy logs around the yard. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the middle of the day, so we try to do the heaviest lifting in the early hours. Being on the main road means there is always noise from the passing buses and trucks. We keep a ledger on a wooden desk that’s seen better days. It is a family-run kind of thing, and we don't have any formal corporate structure. We just know who does what. Sometimes a customer comes in wanting something specific cut, and we spend time getting the measurements just right. It is physically demanding work, and our backs often ache by the time we close up. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a steady one that stays open for those who need wood. We pack up and head home once the trucks stop arriving for the day and the sun starts to set.
