Om Shipping

We operate out of 5/7 Govindarajulu Street in Odakkadu. Om Shipping is right in the middle of a lot of activity. This street is often crowded with motorcycles and people walking by, so getting a truck in can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. We spend our days coordinating where things need to go. It involves a lot of shouting across the room and checking schedules on the wall. We have a small team, and everyone knows what they’re supposed to do. The walls of the office are covered in maps and calendars. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just the stuff we need to work. We deal with a lot of different people, from drivers to warehouse workers. You have to be quick on your feet because things change fast in shipping. If a boat is late or a truck breaks down, we have to figure out a new plan right then and there. It can be stressful, but we’re used to it. We take our tea breaks seriously though. It’s a chance to sit down and breathe for a minute before the next round of calls starts. We’re just a local business trying to keep things moving. It's a lot of phone calls and emails, but that is just how the shipping business works around here.
