New Manak Central Academi School Aajampurdodiya

New Manak Central Academi School Aajampurdodiya is tucked away at No 14/141 on 2nd Street in Chitra Nagar. This part of Saravanampatti in Coimbatore is mostly houses and small shops. Our school is a two-story building that sits right on the corner. It’s got a bit of a worn look to it, but it’s sturdy enough for the daily rush of students. The street is narrow, so when the school van arrives, everything else has to stop for a minute. We spend a lot of time sweeping the dust out of the classrooms because the wind blows it in from the unpaved parts of the street. The teachers are mostly women from the neighborhood who’ve been with us for years. We don’t have any fancy uniforms for the staff, just comfortable clothes for a long day of teaching. There’s a small shop across the way where we sometimes go to get tea in the afternoons. The noise level goes up and down depending on whether it’s recess or lesson time. We don’t have a big hall, so we do our morning gatherings in the open area near the gate. It’s a very straightforward place. We don’t have high-tech gadgets, just some old computers and plenty of chalk. Life in Chitra Nagar is quiet for the most part, and we like that our school fits right into that rhythm. It’s just a local place.
