Morarji Desai Residential School

Our school is found at No 87/4 on Vilankurichi Road in the Ganapathy area of Coimbatore. It is a residential setup, so we have students living on the premises all year round. This means the atmosphere is a bit different than what you find at a regular day school. We have the dormitories and the classrooms all grouped together in one area. It starts getting busy very early in the morning when all the kids have to wake up and get ready for the day. The kitchen staff is usually up before everyone else to get the big pots of breakfast ready. We have students coming from all sorts of places to stay here. The building itself is quite functional, with long corridors and plenty of windows to let in the sunlight. We have to stick to a tight schedule to make sure everything runs smoothly with so many people living together. Study hall happens in the late afternoon, and you can usually hear the quiet sound of voices as the students go over their lessons. Sometimes the plumbing has problems or a fan stops working, so there is always some maintenance task to take care of. Outside, Vilankurichi Road is always noisy with cars and buses, but inside our gates, it’s mostly just the sounds of school life. We have a small ground where the kids play cricket or just hang out after their classes are done. It’s a practical place built for living and learning without any unnecessary decorations or fancy stuff.
