Malar Supermarket

Malar Supermarket is located over at Malaiveppan Kuttai, right behind the Mariamman Kovil. It’s a handy spot for people coming from the temple or those living in the houses nearby. We aren't a huge store, but we cram a lot of stuff onto the shelves. You can find things like soap, lentils, snacks, and basic household items. The shop floor is often a bit tight because we have bags of rice stacked in the corners. I spend a lot of my time checking the dates on the milk and bread or sweeping the floor. Since we are behind the kovil, we get a lot of people stopping in after their prayers. It makes for a nice atmosphere, though it gets very crowded on festival days. We don't have fancy barcodes or high-tech registers; it's mostly just us adding things up and giving change. Sometimes we run out of something popular and have to wait for the next delivery truck, which can be annoying for the regulars. We know most of the people who come in by their names. It feels more like a community spot than a big supermarket. The building itself is plain, and the shelves are just simple metal racks. We don't put on any acts here. We just open up in the morning, sell what people need, and close when it gets dark. It is just a small business trying to keep the pantry shelves full.
