Madras Kappi

We are located right in the middle of the action at China Bazaar on Oppanakara Street. Being near the Town Hall means there is always something going on outside our doors. We’ve been serving coffee here for a while. It’s a busy part of town, so we get a lot of foot traffic from people shopping or working nearby. Our shop isn't very large, but we make use of the space we have. We focus on the traditional way of doing things because that's what people expect when they come to this part of the city. The noise from the street is constant, but inside it’s the familiar sound of coffee being prepared. We have a small team of us who have been here since the start. We don't really do much in the way of promotion; the location does most of the work for us. People just stumble upon us while they are out in the bazaar. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, but we keep the coffee going regardless. It’s a simple life, honestly. We open up, get the milk and beans ready, and wait for the first customers. Some people have been coming here every day for years. We know their orders before they even speak. That’s the kind of place this is. It’s not polished or modern, just a real coffee spot in a real busy street in Town Hall.
