Down here on Govinda Gounder Street, it gets pretty busy early in the morning. At Lrc Salts And Dyes India Pvt. Ltd., we spend most of our time dealing with bags of salt and different kinds of dyes. It’s the kind of work that gets your clothes a bit dirty by the end of the shift. We aren't a huge place with a glass front or anything like that. It’s just a regular workspace where we get things ready for the local shops and factories. You see a lot of people coming in to check on their orders or just to chat for a minute while we load up. The air smells a bit sharp because of all the chemicals we have around, but we are used to it by now. We’ve had some of the same guys working here for years. We don’t really bother with big meetings or fancy reports. We just look at what needs to be sent out today and we do it. Sometimes the trucks show up late and we have to wait around in the heat, which is never fun. If a machine breaks down, we just fix it and move on. It is basic work but it keeps us going. Most people around here know us because we’ve been at number 12 for quite a while. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks.
