Kongu Matriculation School

Kongu Matriculation School is located on the Kangeyam Main Road in the Vijayapuram area of Tirupur. Being right on the main road means there is always the sound of trucks and cars passing by, which is just part of life in a busy place like Tirupur. The school has been here for a good while, and the walls have that slightly faded look from the sun. Inside, the classrooms are arranged around a central space where we have our daily meetings. We have old-fashioned wooden desks and chairs that have been sat in by hundreds of students over the years. It’s a straightforward school without any of those modern fancy trimmings. The teachers are mostly local women who have been part of this community for a long time. You’ll see the kids playing in the dirt during their break time because we don’t have a paved playground. Everything is very functional and plain. We spend our days following the matriculation syllabus, making sure the children write their notes and learn their lessons properly. During the rainy season, we sometimes have to deal with puddles near the entrance, but we just put some stones down and keep going. It is just a local spot where children come to learn and grow up before they go off to college or work in the garment factories around Tirupur. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some charts on the walls.
