Kathirkrishna Departmental Store

Kathirkrishna Departmental Store is at 1/19L, Pappampatti Road in Ondipudur. We are a local shop that’s been serving this corner of the town for a while now. It’s not a supermarket like you see in the big malls. We have narrow aisles and shelves stacked right up to the ceiling. You have to ask us where things are sometimes because we keep moving stuff to make room for new stock arriving every Tuesday. It’s a busy place in the evenings when people are coming home from work and need things for dinner. We sell everything from soap to lentils and some snacks. The floor is made of old stone and the ceiling fans hum all day long. We know most of our customers by their faces, even if we don't always remember their names. We have a few staff members who help with the billing and stocking. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and lifting boxes. We don't have a big mission statement. We just open the doors at eight and close them when the street goes quiet and dark. Sometimes the kids from the school nearby come in for sweets and make a bit of a mess near the entrance. We just sweep it up and keep going. Ondipudur is a nice place to have a shop. It’s steady. We aren't looking to expand or do anything flashy. We just want to keep the shelves full and the people in the neighborhood coming back for their daily needs.
